This drama, set in Hungary in the 1930s, describes the story of the seven-year-old orphan Csöre (Zsuzsa Czinkóczi). The girl lives with a farming family and essentially has to take care of the animals. The only friend Csöre has with him is a cow. She is severely punished for every mistake she makes - on top of that, another farmer abuses her too.
In order to exclude them, Csöre has to run around naked, is not allowed to play with the biological children of the farmer's family and is also not allowed to attend school. The fact that she has to walk around naked doesn't bother her. She can escape this hell and ends up in an orphanage, where she is quickly adopted by a family again. First joy is dampened, because it comes from bad to worse, because here, too, she has to work hard. In addition, the new stepmother is mentally ill, only the "step" grandfather is her confidant, but he dies - and the following events end in catastrophe...
